Transforming the NHS Summit 2010

Transforming the NHS Summit 2010

In attempting to build a world-class health service that delivers improved patient experience and outcomes, the coalition Government has announced plans to “liberate the NHS”; healthcare in England is set to change at every level. From commissioning to new freedoms for trusts and from empowered local authorities to the abolition of PCTs and SHAs, the Government has proposed reforms that will alter the shape of the NHS.

Bringing together experts and stakeholders from across the public, private and third sectors, this major event will investigate exactly how the Government’s plans for an overhaul of the health service can be successfully implemented; and analyse the implications of proposals to change the face of primary care and promote social enterprise.

"The Government's ambition is for health outcomes - and quality services - that are among the best in the world. We have in our sights a unique combinations of equity and excellence. With patients empowered to share in decisions about their care, with professionals free to tailor services around their patients and with relentless focus on continuously improving results, I am confident that together we can deliver the efficiency and the improvement in quality that is required to make  the NHS a truly world class service".

Andrew Lansley CBE MP, Secretary of State for Health, July 2010
